Good Days….Bad Days

Some days are good;

Some days aren’t;

Some days are our favourites;

Some days make us snarl with rage;

Some days you feel lazy that you want to go to sleep on Monday and wake up on Friday!

Some days make you feel agitated even if nothing goes wrong;

Some days turn therapeutic to soothe your mind!

When we are young and busy, days fly past in a jiffy;

When we are retired or jobless, week end feels like a seven day saga;

At times one feels that every day of the work week turns out to be typical;

If your cup of excitement and fun is overflowing, you would even wonder whether you could pluck some excitement and fun from the week end and dole out to the other hectic days of the week;

Come Corona and our sense of time went for a toss. The Corona lock down has sabotaged our sense of time.  Confined to our homes, most of us lost our grip on the sense of time, day or date.  Breathing heavily the air of domestic ambiences, families stayed glued to monitors … working from home and learning from home!

Entangled in the mesh of work and wisdom, we turned into zombies unable to recall the day or date. Corona has successfully erased the demarcation between days, weeks, months and even between week days and week ends.

As days shed their individuality and unique identities, time becomes a single stretch… stretching far into the horizon of infinity. The clock on the wall indicates a strange and unreal time. Something we have never experienced prior to Corona menace and quarantines!

One hopes that it is only a temporary phenomenon. Hopefully we should be able to get out of this warped sense of time soon and return to the regular rhythm of time that is measured by days, weeks and months.

Just in case you have lost touch of the seven-day week schedule, read on to refresh your memory.  It is entirely upto you to pick out your favourite day!

How many of us rise and shine like a cheerful and chirpy bird on a Monday morning? Monday is meant to give a fabulous start to a week. But if you tell me that on most occasions it turns out to be a weak start, I totally understand. There are some Monday mornings that suck however much you try to beam with positivity.

Mondays can give us a stiff back on which lies a heavy head. Try infusing some cheer into the dreary day! Can’t afford to be like a sleep-walker on all Mondays. There are 52 of them in a year! Obviously, with this zombie profile we may make a mess of all the Mondays.

If like the majority, Monday is not your day, you need to try harder.

I am reminded of a naive idea, suggested by a friend, to add some fruit punch to the parched Monday. “Wake up early along with the Sun and pretend it’s Friday”.   Seriously!

Monday just needs that strong and sturdy kick start. Gulp a glass of strong coffee and ride straight into the day with a contagious smile.  Find yourself mutating into a grinning optimist and embracing the day that has suddenly turned magical.

Welcome Tuesday! Are your morning blues still persevering to unsettle your mind?  Then you would find Tuesday, “the ugly sister of Monday” no better than Monday. But if you have survived Monday, Tuesday should not be a big deal. This logic truly makes sense as it strengthens your spirit to dust away the depressive hangovers. For a change Tuesday may be terrific and not terrible as you had anticipated.

Wednesday ushers in the midweek medley – a day that is neither like Monday nor Tuesday. If you are not sure which course the day would take, hang on for a while! You have already cleared half-way….so it’s not the time to grumble. Even if you moan and whine, Wednesday will still have 24 hours which you have to endure.  A wise individual would rather derive some inspiration from the bright blue skyscape of Wednesday. Friday is not far away.  Perhaps it is time for you to attempt a smile.

Thursdays always come with a bright ray of hope that peps up our spirits. Week end buffs have rechristened Thursday as “Friday eve”. We look forward to this day as we know that the oncoming days of Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the best ones of the week. Surprisingly, a tinge of hope and tolerance touches our spirit and makes a promise that Friday will follow soon.

Brimming with optimism we welcome Friday. Thanks to Friday, we are a step closer to freedom and rest. Life feels a lot more sweeter.  Cheerful faces all around us make us aspire for a restful weekend that moves at a slower and gentler pace.

Saturday and Sunday arrive to illuminate our weekend. Had to wait for five long days to arrive at this point. The weekend wipes away the monotony of the days that limped by slowly. Saturday and Sunday – the two day window wins hands down – Champions of the week!

If you believe that the week end holds the key to your happiness, grab the keys right away and lift your spirit until it bursts with optimism.

That is the story of the seven days of the week!

Seven different days!

As the argument goes, it’s true that all days are not good. But there is something good, for sure, even on a day when you hit a bad patch. Imagine how our lives would be if we exercise our choice to control the outcome of our days!

If only you could identify and tap that creamy layer hidden within the daily humdrum and frozen routine, you would transform a foggy morning into a golden dawn and find that…..

Each day is a gift that has to be unwrapped with love;

Each day is an opportunity to progress;

Each day is a new beginning;

Each day the Sun rises to fulfil its promise of a bright and better day!

 And shouldn’t each one of us make the most of each day?
